BMW F 900 R

The BMW F 900 R is a middleweight naked bike that is perfect for commuting and going for runs on the weekends, although its looks are a bit deceiving. Based on the looks, I expected it to have a three or four-cylinder engine but it, in fact, has a parallel twin.

So obviously it doesn’t sound as good as you might expect but it still packs 99 hp and the torque is plentiful in the lower range of RPMs. If you need something to get you to work and back, looks great and is still able to give you a good time over weekends, this might just be it.

Honda Rebel 500

The Honda Rebel 500 is, in my own opinion, the best bike for those who want to learn how to ride (a beginners bike). I don’t think I would ever recommend the Rebel 300 as you would grow out of it within no time. The Rebel 500 should at least keep a new rider happy for a year or two.

It’s an easy bike to ride, highly modifiable, has excellent fuel consumption and the seat is positioned quite low so it’ll accommodate the shorter riders. It’s not a very powerful bike, so experienced riders will probably not respond so enthusiastically towards its performance.

Indian Scout Bobber Sixty

The Indian Scout Bobber Sixty is a cruiser motorcycle that is also great for beginners. But that doesn’t mean that it’s weak in any sense, just that it rides easily and has smooth power delivery. It’s not that much more expensive than the Rebel 500 but you get twice the cc’s and it’s a V-twin.

It’s so well priced that you don’t really see the sense of buying the bigger brother, the Scout Bobber for $2,000 more. I mean, 78 hp isn’t that far away from the 100 hp that the Scout Bobber has. This is good value for money.

Kawasaki Z900

The Kawasaki Z900 is a middleweight 948cc naked bike. Is it really a middleweight? It isn’t as heavy as the Z1000 and the price doesn’t seem to say that it’s a high-end naked bike but performance-wise it certainly does seem so.

It has a great sound coming from the inline 4-cylinder engine that produces 125 horsepower and 73 ft-lb of torque. I’ve always admired Kawasaki for producing bikes with performance that is way above average for an average price.
