The worlds top destinations to go see on your motorcycle

When you are planning a world tour on your motorcycle or just want to know what you are missing, you should consider adding one of these destinations to your bucket list. Some of the world’s best destinations to see on your motorcycle include the Großglockner Road and the Lysebotnvegen Road.

Overview

In this short article, we look at what I think are the worlds top destinations to go see on your motorcycle. A brief overview of the location and why I think the destination should be on the list is what you can expect in this article.

My list of the worlds top destinations to see on your motorcycle:

  • Großglockner Road, Austria
  • Lysebotnvegen Road, Norway
  • The Tail Of The Dragon, USA
  • Franschhoek Pass, South Africa
  • The Great Ocean Road, Australia

Großglockner Road, Austria

This is one of the most famous routes for motorcyclists all over the world. The road is named after the Grossglockner mountain; with the highest peak in Austria and has a total riding distance of 29.7 miles or 47.8 kilometres. Though, you will need confirmation when this road may be open as it is often covered in snow.

Lysebotnvegen Road, Norway

A popular tourist destination in Europe. The Lysevegen road in Forsand in Ryfylke goes from Lysebotn in the Lysefjord to Sirdal. It passes through a 0.7 mile or 1.1 kilometre tunnel before a series of 27 hairpin bends. The entire route has a total riding distance of 18 miles or 29 kilometres and 32 sharp bends.

The Tail Of The Dragon, USA

Probably the most exciting road to ride on in the United States. The tail of the Dragan at Deals Gap is in the Smoky Mountain range and has 318 turns in only 11 miles or 17.7 kilometres. It’s located in North Carolina close to Tennessee.

Franschhoek Pass, South Africa

A great route to include in your visit to South Africa is from Franschhoek to Hermanus. This route also includes the world-famous wine estates around Stellenbosch then Somerset West, Pringle Bay and then on the return from Hermanus over the Sir Lowry’s Pass back to Somerset West.

The Great Ocean Road, Australia

One of the worlds most favourite scenic routes. The Great Ocean Road has a total riding distance of 249 miles or 400 kilometres and runs all along the South Australian coast. On this route, you can see Bells Beach, Port Fairy and the 12 Apostles and along the way are rainforests and old volcanos.
