Things to do when you can’t ride your motorcycle

At some point, you might need things to do when you can’t ride your motorcycle due to weather, an accident, family issues or even health risks. Whatever the case may be, you need to find something else to do that gets the adrenaline pumping or something to keep your mind busy.

Overview

In this article, we look at various things you can do when you can’t go out riding your motorcycle. We’ll just briefly go through them and I’ll give you my reasons for adding it to the list.

Things you can do when you can’t ride your motorcycle:

  • Learn motorcycle safety from Dan Dan The Fireman
  • Learn how to maintain your motorcycle
  • Read an ebook on motorcycling or motorcycles
  • Reorganise your garage
  • Listen to motorcycle podcasts
  • Read Two Motion’s motorcycling articles
  • Clean your gear
  • Answer motorcycling surveys
  • Learn how to do great motorcycle photography

Learn motorcycle safety from Dan Dan The Fireman

Let’s be serious for a moment at least. We all need to stay safe and learn from what other riders have learned the hard way. DanDanTheFireman is a YouTube channel where you can really learn a lot from Dan himself.

He has new content almost daily and is dedicated to teaching you how to stay safe on your motorcycle.

Learn how to maintain your motorcycle

Motorcycle maintenance includes some of the basic things:

  • Changing the oil
  • Lubricating the chain
  • Changing brake fluids
  • Changing brake pads
  • Checking tire pressures
  • Replacing or cleaning the air filter

But there are also some other improvements that you can do to make sure your motorcycle is easy to maintain in the future. For example, I removed all the fasteners on my bikes, put them in marked plastic bags and took them to the shop to get stainless steel replacement fasteners.

I did this because I know that as my bike gets older, those fasteners will become rusty and over time they might not loosen that easily. Since stainless steel doesn’t rust, I know that I won’t have problems over 5 or 10 years from now.

And it’s really not that expensive. I don’t know why they just use them from the very start.

Read an ebook on motorcycling or motorcycles

This is something that can do to expand your knowledge or increase your skills as a rider. While ebooks come in a variety of new formats, many are still in PDF format like my own ebooks, although, I just call them info products instead of ebooks.

To view all my info products, you can navigate to the Two Motion Store.

Reorganise your garage

Gotya! You were supposed to do this several years ago. Though, I’m not one to talk either.

It might be time to get rid of a few broken parts that have been laying around for ages. I know I still have parts for bikes that I sold more than 10 years ago. So we should try selling them or throw them away if no one wants them.

But we should also do a bit of spring cleaning, you know, move the shelves and get all the dust out.

Then we can start with the actual organising of things which could take a day or two if the place is packed with useless stuff. Here’s some advice on how to do organise your garage:

Listen to motorcycle podcasts

If you can’t get your adrenaline pumping, you can always just relax and take a break. Listening to podcasts is somewhat relaxing and can give you some insight into what’s happening out there.

These are some motorcycling podcasts that you can try out:

  • Motorcycles & Misfits
  • This Motorcycle Life Podcast
  • The Motorcycle Mentor Podcast
  • Motorcycle Men
  • Throttled Motorcycle Podcast

Read Two Motion’s motorcycling articles

If you want to learn about things regarding motorcycles or motorcycling, I have loads of articles that you can read and I publish new ones on a daily basis.

Most of them are things that you probably wondered about and didn’t feel like you would get an answer on the web. For example, have you ever wondered why MotoGP bikes don’t have starters?

Find some interesting reads on the homepage.

Clean your gear

When you can’t go out, cleaning your gear is not something that is enjoyable to do at all. But it still needs to be done and takes a lot of time doing it, so while you listen to some podcasts you may just as well get an old toothbrush and start scrubbing.

Answer motorcycling surveys

This might be fun to do and you get to see the results are after answering. I have a page dedicated to survey questions right here on this website.

Answer some survey questions…

Learn how to do great motorcycle photography

If you are on Instagram, you’ll benefit from learning how to take those perfect photos of your motorcycle. You can learn a lot from professionals in the industry who provide advice that is suitable for beginners and advanced learners.

If there is one place where you can learn it all, it’s impovephotography.com

And since I try to use featured images from Instagram, you could get a DM from me someday asking for permission to use your photo. Just add #twomotion in your photo description. It’s as easy as that…
